Inspiration

Swirl in a colorful fantasy. A trip to the ocean in Orange County, CA inspired this piece. The water breaks and swirls around rock and sand. Dip in your toe, or dive entirely in.

Color

When choosing colors for this piece, I initially focused on the shade of teal and added a softer shade after to coordinate. As the piece progressed, I added higher contrast black and white to accentuate movement between the colors.

Technique

Initially the canvas was painted with textures of heavy body paint and gel medium, then fully painted in white. Colors were added when the underpaint was dry so the vibrancy would stay and textures show through.

Acrylic and treadmill oil on gallery wrapped canvas. Sides painted, no additional framing required for hanging.
