Inspiration
There are so many places that blues and green collide in nature, that inevitably as a nature lover, I gravitate toward these colors. Each time I spend time at the ocean, even for a few days, I start to see these “ocean hues” in my work. They just take me to a great place to relax.
Color
White fluid base was toped with a ring of gold. Then turquoise, navy, green, red and black were added.
Technique
Some schools call this a “dutch pour” and often blue is the main color. I simply flood the canvas with a loose white mixture of paint and water, then add rings of water diluted color. The rings are then surrounded by more white paint. Using a blow dryer and tipping techniques only, the white paint is blown over the rings and then I blow directly on the pile in the desired design direction. Composition is key. I work with what happens organically by torching it with a small propane torch to expose the loose cells of the fluid paint.
